Do you have a daughter?

Sister? Granddaughter? Niece?

Don't we wish all young girls could know this?

I pray my daughter will.

5 months!!!

{haha, this pic makes me laugh!}

Better late than never right? Reese turned 5 months on Thursday and I am just now getting around to posting...oh well! We played with Babs and T this weekend and I will blame them on the lateness!

This has been a very fun month! She is very sociable and loves to smile and screech {the beginnings of laughter}

We broke free of every sleeping aid {which equals growing up :( boohoo } and have moved onto the world of footie sleepers. I mean, have you ever seen anything more adorable??
She is still wearing mostly 0-3 months clothes, but occasional 3-6 month and definitely 3-6 month sleepers!

She is wearing size 2 diapers.

We went to the doctor Friday and she weighed exactly 14 pounds! I'm a little sad I can't do the percentages and stuff this month!

She has definitely begun to show interest in food, going so far as to attack my face when a food item/straw gets near! She has tried sweet potatoes, carrots, oatmeal, and rice cereal. I am not really pushing the food thing yet, but I have a feeling we will start implementing that shortly!
Mom and I got lucky and hit up a consignment sale this weekend. We picked up some new toys that Reesie was loving!
She can roll over and some days wants to. Other days, she could care less.

She sits leaning forward for about 20-30 seconds on her own! The girl realllllllly wants to sit and stand. When she is on her back, she pushes up on her elbows and strains to sit up!

She is still sleeping 12 hours at night. Also, she is not a great napper during the day. She fights sleep soooo hard {hmm, can't imagine where she gets that from!}

She likes playing peek-a-boo.

Still spitting up after every single bottle {sooo annoying} and drooling like a mad woman! Also, no love for the pacie, but would swallow her fist if she could!

She's been looking mighty cute in orange and blue these days!!

Reesie, I can't believe you are 5 months old! Where has time gone? In no time at all, I will be writing your 1 year post. I am not prepared for that! The sad thing is, it's happening right before my eyes and I can't do anything about it! I can already see that you have an independent and stubborn streak. That's ok for now, but in about 13 years, I'm gonna need you to keep that in check. I'm happy that you will let anyone hold you, but I am also happy that you light up when I walk in the room. Not to be selfish or anything :). Your daddy gets the biggest smiles out of you. I love how you bury your face on my shoulder when you laugh really big, as if you just can't even contain yourself!
You are not a cryer. Unless food is involved. Or you are put to bed against your will. {expect at Babs and T's house. Please explain yourself} I love our evenings together on our bed. You show me those gummy grins and stare at the ceiling fan.
We are so blessed by you, Peanutty! You have made us into parents! No one else has ever done that before! We will do everything we can to protect you and provide for you. We know you are on loan to us from our Father and for that we are eternally grateful! You are such a testament to the power of prayer and faithfulness! Can't wait to see where life takes you, sweet girl.
Happy 5 months!!!!

Thoughts on Motherhood!

1. Leaving the house will take at least an hour longer.
2. Trust your own instincts and sometimes, throw the schedule out the window!
3. As sad as it is to think Reese will never be a newborn again, I’m loving each day more and more!
4. There will be a lot of things you’ll do that you said you’d never do!
5. Somehow being pooped on, peed on, and spit up on does not gross me out!
6. If breastfeeding is way too stressful {as it was for me}, formula works just fine!
7. It’s ok to spend the first 2 weeks wondering what you got yourself into.
8. It’s also ok to not be able to fathom doing it again!
9. From the minute you find out you’re pregnant, anxiety takes on a whole new meaning!
10. I got an email today that read, “What Baby’s Poop Reveals about Her Health” and I was actually interested to see what it said!
11. You can never be “financially ready” for a baby.
12. Even though they say every baby reaches milestones at different times, it’s hard to not compare.
13. It’s ok to “have” to go to Target or Kroger just to put a baby in a really cute outfit.
14. Why do some people not pay attention to what the baby is wearing before they ask, “boy or girl?”
15. When you can handle it, get out of the house and run errands as soon as you can after having a baby!
16. Reese’s smile can fix anything in the whole wide world!
17. Being a working mom is not fun. I hate only getting to spend 2 hours {at the most} each day with her.
18. Do not research what other country’s maternity policies are. You will get very angry and threaten to leave the country.
19. Sometimes it’s easier to just throw it away instead of washing it.
20. Why don’t they make adult laundry detergent that smells like Dreft?
21. Resist the urge to spend your whole paycheck on baby clothes.
22. I HATE washing bottles, but love washing and folding teeny, tiny clothes!
23. I’ve never been more thankful for my own parents than when I became a parent myself!
24. Sometimes they just need to cry. More than a minute. Sometimes more than 10 minutes. They will eventually fall asleep.
25. It still blows my mind to look at her and think that she started as a little raisin {with a tail} and then grew every part of who she is, inside of me!
