Cheeky!

Playing "How big's the baby?"

Today, we had Reese's appointment at the ENT to check about the lump/knot in her cheek.  After waiting 2 hours and playing with Lolli, we finally saw the doc!

He did an ultrasound, {which was not loved by the patient} and feels 99% sure she has what is called a Hemangioma of the Parotid Gland.  What big words!

Basically, it is a mass of blood vessels that have made their home in Peanut's cheek.  He used the word "tumor", but I don't love that word, so I'm saying "mass" which isn't much better, but still.  He is 99% sure it is non-cancerous and feels that we would have seen some other symptoms if it were cancerous.  It measures 3cms and is quite a large mass.  He will be consulting some doctors at Children's Hospital to run the diagnosis by specialists {in hemangiomas?  in cheek masses?  who knows...}

Anyways, after he talks with the specialists, if they see no cause for concern, we will go back to the ENT in 6 weeks to measure the mass again and decide what to do from there.  If they feel like something more needs to be done, our ENT will be calling us and we'll take it from there.

So.

We're in a "wait and see" mode.  Fun, huh??

Not exactly.

Words like "tumor" and "cancer" are not fun words, and especially not being swirled around the air in a room with my 9 1/2 month old daughter.  But, I know God is in control of my baby's sweet cheek {ha} and I feel confident that we have nothing to worry about.

We are praying for the mass to have decreased when we go back in 6 weeks!  Join us, won't you?

On a lighter note, today is T's birthday!!

Reese is so lucky to have a Godly, generous, and loving T!!!  What a strong example and leader you have been for our family and I don't know where we'd be without you!!

Hope you had a great birthday!!  We love you!

What a fun weekend Peanutty and I had at Babs and T's house this weekend!  We took several photos this visit and since there has been a lack of photos recently, here is a Reese photo overload!!

This next photo makes me laugh EVERY time I see it!

Quick Update!

So, I took the bunny pic, but I'm too lazy to upload it tonight...promise you'll see it tomorrow!!
Anyways, we went to Reese's 9 month check up today and here are the stats:

Weight: 19 lbs, 3 ozs. (50th %)
Length: 27 inches (25%)
Head Circumference: 42 cms (25%)

Basically, she was in the exact same place on her growth chart as she was at 6 months!  She gained equally among all 3 categories!!  It is amazing that 9 months ago, she was just a little over 4 lbs!

How do they go from this:

to this:

in such a few short months??

I have a love/hate relationship with that little thing called time

Back to the appointment, she flirted with everyone, cried for .4 seconds with her shots, and then promptly reached out for and went to the nurse who had just given her the shot!!  What's that about??

Also, the doctor is making us a referral to get her cheek looked at by an ENT {ear, nose, and throat doc} just to make sure all is well.  Our doc feels that it is probably just a little benign cyst and nothing to be concerned about.  She did say that it is not normal and she/we would sleep better if we got it seen by a specialist.  I agree and we should have an appointment hopefully within a week!  Please continue to pray that the knot is nothing and no further intervention is required.

9 months!

So I don't have an official bunny pic yet, but here is a cute pic of our 9 MONTH OLD!!!

I cannot believe she was born 9 months ago.  She's been out of the womb longer than she was in there!  What a crazy thought!  Here are some specifics about this baby girl!

~ Crawling like it's her job.  She has gotten much faster and slaps the ground so hard when she crawls.
~  She pulls up on everything!
~ Nap/Bed time has become interesting.  She fights it hard and stands up in her crib and just stares at the door.  She usually does this when she's going to bed and waking up.
~  Just today, she has cut her 2 top teeth!!!
~ Wearing 6-9, 6-12, or 9 month clothes.  We go to the doc. on Wednesday, so I'll update with her weight, height, etc. then.
~ Size 3 diapers
~ Still a great eater.  We try hard to get 3-4 bottles a day.  Not so interested in the bottle.  She eats every baby food.  She is also trying out "people" food too and has not found a SINGLE item she won't eat.  I hope this continues.
~ Loves her pink baby doll and her lion lovey!
~ Still doesn't really care about a paci.  I've never seen a child that just doesn't "get" a paci, but she doesn't.  She chews on it and plays with it, but has never just sucked on it.
~ She has the sweetest, softest little voice.  She loves talking in the car.

There are so many things I love about this girl!  She really is a great baby and has spoiled us so much!  Can't wait to see what becomes of her little life!

P.S.  One of the things we are talking to the doctor about Wednesday is a knot that she has had on her jaw for about 3 months.  We took her to the doc. about a month and a half ago, and they didn't seem concerned.  Well, it hasn't gone away and I don't like that.  I'm sure everything is fine, but it does make me a little nervous.  Please pray that it is nothing serious and we can find out what it is!!

Reesie Lou Who

Do you see that little flower on the top of the screen?  Do you see how close it is to 1 YEAR OLD?

Impossible.

Really.  Even if I wanted to remember the {almost} last 9 months, I'm not sure I could.  Just today, I looked at her and thought, she is becoming a little person.  She's not a newborn baby, but a cackling, babbling, mobile human!

And then she fell over a roll of paper towels and busted her lip/nose.

She needs to work on that "mobile" part a little more.  It's pretty pitiful actually.  I'm sure it's bruising nicely while she's sleeping peacefully.

Do you need a visual image?

What is that area between your upper lip and the base of your nose called?

Well, that's what she busted.  Along with that came a bloody nose.  For just like 3 seconds.  We've been checking on her to make she she didn't receive a concussion.

If she's channeling Cindy Lou Who tomorrow, I'll be sure to document that for the blog.

It can't be all sunshine and roses when she looks back on this, can it?
