3 months!

I can't believe my little man is 3 months old!!  Where has the time gone?  Well, actually, I have a 2 year old, so I'm well aware of how fast time moves when you have babies!  BUT STILL.

Here are some tidbits about Jack man:
- wearing 0-3 month clothes and size 1 diapers.
- usually sleeping from 9-4 {sometimes 5 or 6} and then until 7 or 8.
- our napping schedule during the day is not so easily tracked.
- his whole face lights up when he smiles!  I think there might be a dimple or 2 trying to happen!
- his eyes are still blue...in fact they are the exact same color Reese's were at that age.
- he has a lot less hair than she did at 3 months.
- he looooves being held {but really, what baby doesn't?} and he also loves laying down flat as long as someone is talking to him.
- he actually likes getting his diaper changed, being naked, having baths, etc.  Reese didn't like these things.
- he is definitely a snuggle baby and a mama's boy.  I love it!
- he is the most pitiful thing when he sticks his bottom lip out and cries.
- he gets a mixture of breast milk and formula in his bottles.
- this past month he attended 2 weddings back-to-back and did great at the hotel/wedding/reception for both of them!
- he loves to watch Reese and she is very much in love with her "baby Jack"
- the spitting up has not improved. ::sigh::
- he has great head control, but shows no signs of rolling over anytime soon.

Now.  I have to share these 2 pics. I had no idea I had taken one so similar of Reese at almost his same age.  It was Reese's idea to put the "merrymote" in the picture with Jack.
{click to make bigger.}
You can really see how much lighter his hair is than hers was.  Also, they both have the little strawberry patch between their eyes, although hers is much more noticeable.

I also took my new favorite picture of the 2 of them together.  But before I post that one, here are the outtakes:

Reese: "It's ok baby Jack; don't cry; you're fine; I'm here."
Jack: "Can you see the comfort I'm feeling?"

Reese: "I'm so gentle mommy."
Jack: "Watch it sister."

Reese: "I kiss him on his mouf."
Jack: "AHHH!"

P.S.  It's perfectly normal to be jealous of my 2-year-old's tan, right?

This little guy...

Is a total stinker!

He's only 10 weeks into this whole, living-on-the-outside thing, and from what I can tell, he might still be a tad angry about it.

Now, when Jack Jack was in the womb, he was a mover and a shaker and he moved ALL day and slept pretty much all night.  Well guess what?  That's still what he's doing!

Like today for instance.  From the hours of 7:30 am until 8:30 pm, he slept MAYBE 2 hours.  ALL.DAY.  Now, he's not {usually} fussing, although after that many hours with no nap, well, you can tell.
I think he's just really interested in what's going on and thinks he might miss something.
Now, I won't complain about the amount of sleep he gets at night, but still....a little daytime shut eye wouldn't hurt anyone!

He's happiest being held and swayed.  He also likes to flirt.  Big time.  He will coo and giggle for as long as you'll stare at him.  Which is pretty easy to do, considering his eyes and eyelashes are pretty yummy.  As are his cheeks, which almost sit on his shoulders {can you tell in the pic above?}

He can be slightly difficult at times.  Sorry Baby Jack...even though I want to kiss your lips 24/7, you aren't what I would label an "easy, laid back, go with the flow" kind of bambino.
He has the most pitiful cry you've ever heard.  He could seriously be the "cry model" they use for a baby doll's cry.  Like, when you hear a baby cry that perfect cry in a movie or on TV, that's what he sounds like.
He also sometimes just acts like he's never had a bottle before.  He'll be happily sucking along and then all of a sudden, he looks at you like, "have you lost your mind, AS IF I would drink this."
Fun times, I tell ya.

But then.
There's those times when he smiles so big and he does that weird sucking in thing that baby's do before they laugh out loud.
When I have him on my shoulder and I swear he's hugging me.
And now that he's starting to realize he is in control of his own body and hands and feet and he can actually make them do things.
It's pretty amazing.
He's pretty amazing.

I have a feeling he's gonna be a "give it all you've got" kind of kid.
He goes from happily playing to "OMG, save me" screams {or that perfect baby cry} in .02 seconds.
He gives 100% into whatever he's feeling at the moment.

Now, that's a very redeeming quality to have.
Just not at 10 weeks old!

Summa's Comin...

And we can't wait!!!

This little guy right here is 2 months old.  Time flies yall!

We went to the doc today last week and here are his stats:
weight: 11.5 lbs.
length: 23.5 inches
head: 39 cms.
All of these put him in the 50% percentile!  We got a prescription for Zantac so hopefully our tummy issues will start to get better!
Zantac is a miracle drug and I wish I could hug the people that invented it!

You know the fun thing about 2 months?  They start to turn into little people!  Like, smiling and cooing little people!  Makes all the fussiness and sleeplessness worth it!

Actually, he's been on a pretty good sleeping schedule {at night anyways}.  He usually goes down at 9 and wakes up between 3 and 4 and then sleeps until about 6 or 7.  I really can't complain.

He finally allowed us to swaddle him which has made a difference in his night time sleeping.

His daytime/evening hours have improved so much since being on the Zantac.  It hasn't improved his spitting up {which I can handle}, but you can tell he's just a whole lot more comfortable!

I seriously want to {and usually do} just kiss his face allllllllll the time.  Especially his lips.  They are edible, really.

I must admit, I'm not one of those moms who feels that instant, "oh my god, he's mine and I love him and I'm so connected to him" thing.  Of course, I've loved him from the very minute I saw him, but those first few weeks are simply survival and trying to establish some sort of normalcy.  I put so much effort into just, well, living.  And feeding and sleeping, etc that it just takes me a couple weeks to realize that I'm actually this baby's mommy!  Starting around now, I really start to feel that "oh I love this little baby so much it hurts" kind of thing.  All that to say, I think it's totally normal for those feelings to sink in.  It doesn't always happen automatically!

Because, I see this face {THE EYELASHES.  THE LIPS} and I pretty much just melt.

He smiles the instant you talk to him.  And he's starting to do that I'm-new-at-this baby coos and giggles that sound more like baby birds squawking.  It's pretty amazing.  He's also a mama's boy.  He loooves to be in the sling and as long as he's being held, everything's alright in the world.  He's just now beginning to entertain himself in his bouncy seat, play mat, etc.

I can't imagine life without him.

Happy 2 months sweet boy!

We also had this little squirt's 2 year check up.

weight: 33.2 lbs.
height: 35.5 inches
head: 49 cms.
That puts her in the 90% for everything!  Haha...for a girl who started out in the 3%, I'd say she's made up for it.  Can I please tell you what a little jewel this girl is?  When she had to get her finger pricked, she told the lady thank you.  When she had to get a shot, she told the lady she loved Dora.  I'm constantly amazed by her.  Also, she grabbed Dr. Wood by the hand and said "come on Dr. Wood, I show you sunshine.  It's oda bear {over there} on da wall.  It's yaya {yellow} and has eyes."  Needless to say, Dr. Wood was impressed with her vocabulary!

I might live to regret saying this, but I love age 2.  So far.  Yes, we whine a lot and yes we have very dramatic break downs when we don't get our way.  BUT.  To be able to carry on a real, full fledged conversation with my 2 year old....that's pretty amazing.

She makes me laugh constantly and shows me daily what "child-like faith" really is.

She is inquisitive and imaginative {we have our first imaginary friend: Patrick} and likes for people to watch her.
"Mommy, wook at me when I eat hot dogs."  "Daddy, wook!  I'm reading a book."  "Wook Babs, I feeding baby Jack."

Girl loves her some positive affirmation.

There's not a food she doesn't like {except maybe cole slaw} and there's not a single soul she can't win over by batting those eyelashes, flashing that smile, and saying "hey dere!"

She's also pretty darn sneaky and thinks she's found the phrase that will buy her eternal grace:
"Pweaseeee?  It will make me feel better."
Really.  How do you resist?
Give you a hint....

She's stolen my heart and makes me swell with pride everyday.
I still can't believe she's mine.
